The Garden of Eden

We still curse the fate that made us
Toilers of this wretched earth
Far from that garden that He forbade us
This rightful heritage of our birth

For in that garden there lies a tree
Such delightful fruit it bears
But the tree of life will never be
Partaken by its rightful heirs!

If one day we should discover
This fruit that makes us live forever
Maybe in time we'll learn to love her!
Or even think Miss Eve quite clever!
