Visiting Israel

Hola to all,
I just joined this site. No, I am not jewish, at least not that I would know for sure. I am from Spain (living in Germany), my grandmother from a small town in Avila, which was mostly sephardic back 500 years ago, before the sephardic jews where forced by the Spanish Inquisition to convert or to leave Spain. So who knows what my roots are.
Since my youth I was drawn to the jewish culture. Why? I have no idea, it was something very deep rooted that I could not explain.
I wanted to experience Israel, especially I wanted to work in a
kibbutz. Destiniy had other paths for me, but I kept that dream all this years. Then I got badly hurt and landed in the wheelchair with a paraplegia and I thought the dream to visit Israel would be impossible. But this wish was quite persistent and during the years could not be buried.
Now 30 years later that "draw" to Israel has surfaced again very strongly. And this time I am planing on visiting Israel. Maybe through this site I can find people that help me with information about accessibility, information about the country. I would be travelling alone in a wheelchair....so it will be quite an adventure.
I am not searching the catholic religious paths. Just want to experience Israel with its people and culture.
Thank you, muchas gracias for any information you can give me.
saludos

Hola Lapal,
I don't have a Jewish bloodline either. I don't know much about the traditions or the dogma. I think ALL nations of man are false idols, including Israel. That is probably not going to get me any friends here. I also feel that "The Holy Land" is everywhere, and the entire human race are all G-d's children. Even the jerks. I know that I was touched by G-d, and that offends ethnically jewish people, because their G-d is not supposed to waste his time on non-Jews.

I really don't care about any of this nonsense, and neither does the transcendent one. I'll meet you at gate thirteen when that day comes ; )

Hola persona loca
well, since I am not a premium member here, I could not directly respond your comment. I am not a religious person, so I am not seeking G-d by going to Israel. I just want to meet Israel. I doubt I will be in gate thirteen good luck to you.
saludos

Dear Lapal,

I've been to Israel this springtime,my first time. It's a wonderful country. It's very hard to go away from it. I never met more nice people in a short time like the four days I spent there.

You really should live your dream seeing this country.

If you need special informations, I will forward your questions to my israelian friends.

I think you will find a county well-prepared for handicaped people, because the wars in Israel hurted so many people. A german manufactorer for special cars for handicaped people just opened a branch in Israel, because of the big need for supply like this.

I found a wonderful music in Israel, Yasmin Levy, she is still singing in Ladino, the language of the sephardic jews.

Have a great day, and let me know, if I can try to help you

Hola Tikun,
just read your comment after I got back from Israel. It was a very special trip that touched me very deep. I felt instantly connected to the Land and people, I could not say why....it was.
It would have been great to have had an adapted car. Could you please pass me the information. I will go back to Israel and next time I would like to be able to drive myself for more independence.

I often hear Yasmin Levy, her music is just overwhelming - and most of all, I understand all the lyrics. amazing and powerfull voice.

Gracias, toda for your reply and wishing you a great day.
saludos, laura
