Shalom, This has been a very difficult time for Israel the past summer with the war and after effects. With the country still in a recovery phase and many still not over what has happened. We have all been soul searching why this war happened and what has come from it. The young soldiers kidnapped have not been released and Hezbollah is still intact. There are many unanswered questions and different inquires to see what happened. There has been much depression and sadness over the whole country. But as the New Year came the Holidays were on our hearts and minds. Succoth was a wonderful joyful holiday. Many made booths and decorated them with pictures and palm branches and beautiful colored lights. It is a holiday that both children and adults enjoy. The Believers visited each other and shared meals together in the Succa singing and just enjoying the company of friends and family. All throughout the cities you could see these little booths, people eating in them and some even sleeping in them. It is a festival that the Jews were commanded by God to go up to Jerusalem to the Temple. The other day going into Jerusalem there were so many traffic jams as people flocked to the Western Wall for the special prayers of the Rabbis. We also had at this time the Feast of Tabernacles and many Christians from all over the world came to Jerusalem to be part of the celebrations. This year over 5000 Christians came to stand with Israel showing their love and support for the country. During the war tourism dropped completely off and until now it has not really recovered. The hotels were full for the Biblical holidays. A few days ago in Jerusalem there was the Jerusalem Parade an annual event for over 18 years. People come from all over Israel to be part of this special day. Over 16,000 were in the Parade and within the group were the Christians groups from around the world - those that were here to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. Many wore their native dress carrying flags and giving sweets to the children. It is the highlight of the holiday in Jerusalem, a very special blessing for the country to have these Gentile Christians come from around the world to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles and show their support towards Israel. My husband Ron and I traveled everyday up to Jerusalem (from the Netanya area) to be part of the feast as well. We have for over 17 years now worked with the Israel Blood Bank and have set up a place for people to donate blood at the Feast of Tabernacles. So much blood is needed here. Many come year after year to donate blood and feel this is a very important thing they can do to help Israel. We were able to do a little something by having people give blood to help the soldiers and others who needed blood. However, nothing can compare to Yeshua, who gave His blood to save us from our sins, and to give us eternal life.
