I have been separated for many years. My ex and I are on relatively friendly terms and he has been living downstairs in my home as he shows sigs of cognitive deterioration.
I also had some health problems but now have been given a second lease of life and it is time for me to extricate myself from a loveless past and a pseudo-relationship based on loyalty and need, rather than enjoyment and love.
I am an independent woman (emotionally and financially)who loves to laugh and have fun. Nothing elaborate though, a quiet dinner at home, companionship, or a night out with friends, are all enjoyable. I am well travelled, love cruising, am easy-going, loyal, care about my appearance, now retired. I play bridge (not too well), paint portraits (when I find the time), am close to my 2 sons who live in Melbourne and my grandkids. I am about to pay them another visit to support my elder who is about to be divorced. Their father was Jewish and died in 2002. I remarried a non-Jew and while I don't particularly practice my religion, I feel Jewish and regret having married out. I try attending Shool on High Hols but that is not always easy on the Sunshine Coast and driving to Brisbane has been difficult.
