I am beginning a new life, after surviving two life-threatening illnesses, and a long marriage that stifled my creative and artistic needs and talents. I intend to make theatre, art and music a significant and important part of this new life, as well as a more spiritual attachment to Judaism, as the Jewish commumity and clergy were supportive during my illnesses, and instrumental in helping me sustain faith in the fact that I would triumph even against the adverse odds given by medical professionals. In addition, I intend to do all that I can to begin fixing a health care system that is miserably failing millions of citizens at a time when they need it most!
I have always been an individual who is passionate about things he believes in, but I believe I am now even more compassionate for those struggling with challenges in life, often overcome by a system designed to confuse and make the struggle more difficult.
I have spent the better part of a 25+ year career working on the finance and regulatory side of Health care with a wide range of providers. The frightening, challenging and most painful part of being sick myself was finding out how incredibly difficult it was to obtain adequate and timely medical treatment FOR MYSELF! I knew all the "players", I had worked with all the right contacts in Federal, State and local agencies, I even had ongoing political contacts from local state legislators to several U.S. Congressman, Senators and a former Presidential candidate. For the FIRST TIME in my life, I martialed all of the resources I had, and almost did not survive!
My re-involvement in theatre, music and the arts(15 productions in 9 years) has begun my comittment to giving back to those who have been supportive! The smile brought to someone's face in the audience is evidence, for me, that for a moment, I have brightened someone's life! At a recent benefit for the Jewish residents of a nursing home in Florida, the smiles and joy in evidence in the room overwhelmed me as I completed a program of Jewish(and Yiddush) folk songs.
I intend to continue my active involvement with the arts as I begin my new life in New England. In addition, I am already re-involved in the political process, working for several candidates who I know care about the normal "working" middle class who are strugglibg so hard, and seem to be falling further behind. I intend to run for a legislative seat in the not-too-distant future, to attempt to bring change to a health care system, in whatever way possible, that is currently causding unnecesary pain and suffering for millions of people, and, literally, killing millions of people who cannot afford the health care they require!
My Ideal Person
I am looking for a compassionate, warm,sensual, sexy enthusiatic woman who wants to share life's journey with a similar man. I attempt to live life to it's fullest, so please do not respond if you are not looking for a serious and long-term relationship. I have two grown, wonderful children, but am not particularly interested in raising other children at this time in my life. I do not need someone who shares all of my interests, but would desire at least some commen interests, and an ability to accept pursuit of these interests and an openeness to becoming involved or being exposed to things previously not part of your experience. At the same time, I would welcome a relationship with someone who has interests and abilities that are different and would provide an opportunity for new experiences and growth.
