My joys are travel, reading, music, political activism, studying, writing and star-gazing. In terms of travel, I've lived in nine states and visited all but four. I've been to Europe five or six times, to Canada and Mexico a similar number, to Israel twice, and around the world once. Also once, each, to the Philippines and Costa Rica. Music? Jazz, classical, old standards and Broadway show tunes. I HATE rock and hip-hop. My reading centers on history; but I like biographies, science fiction and good novels. I'm reading "Raintree County" now for the first time. I can get lost in a book. Do not disturb. I dabble in genealogy, root for the NY Mets and NY Giants, HATE the Yankees and tolerate the Red Sox and Patriots out of respect to my neighbors. I am president of an organization that's somewhat esoteric in nature; and I support liberal cause as best I can. The organization just mentioned constitutes my 'career', since I have retired from money-making and therefore have little. I do not frequent bars. I rarely go to parties, although I like to socialize. I don't play cards. I like to see foreign or 'art' movies and have some 'naughty' films of a less serious nature. I have been accused of being over-bearing, snobbish, haughty,selfish and unfeeling of others....accusations with which I disagree. I like gourmet cooking; although I am usually willing to let others do the work, especially the cleaning up. (I am not a neatness freak.) I've been twice married, once for 15 years and the most recent, from which I am now separated, 35 years. I fathered one ; but have acquired three step-daughters, five (step) grandchildren and one (step) great granddaughter.

My Ideal Person
I would enjoy the company of a well-educated, well-travelled, creative, playful and open-minded lady with interests similar to my own, a liberality of spirit, a thirst for continuing growth and, yet, a willingness to tolerate differences of opinion and even a willingness to argue about them amicably. A warm heart, warm blood and a warm, giiving nature.
